Our 2021 wrap-up and big predictions for 2022

Our end of year round-up

Exasol has thrived this year despite the continuing challenges posed by the pandemic. We’ve been recognized within the industry, won multiple awards and certifications, and onboarded new customers and partners across a range of industries. Through campaigning and research, we’ve also drawn attention to the educational needs of young people and the importance of sustainability.

We’re getting noticed – a lot!

Exasol is continuing to win praise as a leading Loading...data science platform. At the 2021 IT World Awards® Exasol V7 was awarded Silver in BI and Analytics – not to mention ranking first for Data Analytics Company of the Year at the 2021 Data Breakthrough Awards. And in the DACH region Exasol was named Technology Partner of The Year 2021 by AWS.

The top analyst houses agree. We achieved 26 top-rankings and five leading positions in two of our peer groups in The Data Management Survey 22 conducted by BARC, gaining above-average user ratings in all KPIs including performance and ease-of-use.

Meanwhile, Forrester named us a strong performer in cloud data warehousing services, in The Forrester Wave™: Cloud Data Warehouses Q1 2021, a report assessing the top 13 vendors in this space.

Finally, ISO awarded Exasol its premier standard certifications (27001:2013 and 9001:2015), rewarding our dedication to following security management best practices, and continuously improving our platform. What a year!

Customers are seeing big benefits

Exasol’s hundreds of customers are also recognizing our database as the key solution for dealing with the challenges of digital transformation and the need to handle increasing data volumes. In the past year we’ve welcomed the likes of Deutsche Bahn and one of the leading insurers in Switzerland, who chose our database for its high-performance Loading...in-memory technology to assist with migration and storage, running Loading...machine learning models, and analyzing large volumes of data in various formats.

We’re also thrilled to be working with a range on new high-profile customers across a variety of sectors, including financial services, healthcare, electronics, and sustainability. New business this year includes a global tier one bank, US pharmacy CVS, a leading medtech innovator, the health charity DKMS, a worldwide pharmaceutical leader, and Germany’s LBBW bank.

Plus, we continue our ongoing work with hundreds of pioneering customers across tens of sectors who we’re proud to be associated with.

We’re joining forces with partners

In 2021 we also began collaborating with an exciting range of high-profile partners internationally. Our strategic partnership with VAD Technologies will allow us to distribute our platform to businesses across the MENA region, enabling them to access data-led insights for faster decision-making. Additionally, we’ve become a premium offering of The Positive Thinking Company, as a top-range analytics platform to enhance end-user dashboards.

Exasol has also secured several partners in the AI and machine learning space. We’re working with TurinTech to combine its AI optimization with our high-performing database to provide customers with ML models, enabling them to get more value from their data. In continuing our work in service of Chief Data Officers, we’re also collaborating with Nixinfinity, who are specialists in using cloud services to streamline manual and inefficient processing of data. With Exasol their data strategy consultants do this by delivering data engineering and automation, which includes AI and Loading...big data technology.

While ForthPoint are utilising Exasol to focus on the promise of Industry 4.0. The key to achieving that promise is extracting insight from data at speed.

In our effort to make business intelligence accessible globally, we’re working with AIGS Insights, a South African distributor to deliver efficient analytics to growing enterprises. Together with Protegrity, we’re refining the ability to analyze private data securely and faster than ever, by combining our in-memory technology with its native connector.

With businesses online and emphasizing digital services, Horn & Company partnered with Exasol to combine management expertise with data competency to help its customers adapt – acting as the two “hidden champions” of German retail and finance.

These are just a handful of the awesome partnerships we’ve forged over the past year and we’re looking forward to seeing how our platform powers greater numbers of businesses and exciting new innovations.

We’re changing the data landscape

We’ve become a national funding partner to STATWARS, a not-for-profit educational competition that emphasizes data in education, and to get primary and secondary school students interested in the field.

This compliments our Data Dreamer campaign in which we conducted research into D/Natives, highlighting the data literacy gap affecting young people. Another 2021 research project explored the evolving role of the Chief Data Officer (CDO), where we uncovered the needs and challenges of aspiring CDOs.

Exasol has also addressed sustainability. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we’ve achieved carbon neutrality and will reduce emissions by 42% by 2030. Lastly, we’ve been honored to join the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest voluntary corporate sustainability initiative.

So, what’s next?

It’s been an exciting year and we can’t wait for 2022. Through our work, organizations around the world are recognizing the centrality of data to their business, and it’s vital to understand emerging trends within this space.
