New Exasol 8 delivers enhanced data sovereignty, AI acceleration, and compliance for regulated industries

Berlin, Germany – 6 May 2025 – Exasol, the high-performance analytics engine trusted by enterprises worldwide, today announced the launch of the latest Exasol 8 release at Xperience Berlin 2025, its flagship customer event. The release marks a major leap forward for organizations seeking to modernize analytics, accelerate AI, and meet the most stringent data sovereignty and governance requirements.

“We’re witnessing a fundamental reset in enterprise data strategy as geopolitics, regulatory pressure, and AI adoption challenge old assumptions about the cloud,” said Alexander Stigsen, Chief Product Officer at Exasol. “Our customers in finance, healthcare, and the public sector face growing demands around data sovereignty and regulatory compliance. With the latest Exasol 8 release, we’re enabling them to meet extended DORA and NIS2 requirements, run securely on Linux environments, and achieve the highest standards for data governance-while delivering unmatched analytics and AI performance.”

Exasol 8 Release Highlights:

  • Data Sovereignty & Compliance: Extended support for DORA and NIS2 compliance, secure Linux deployments, and rootless mode-addressing critical needs in financial services and other regulated sectors.
  • Unified Analytics & AI: The integrated Exasol AI Lab empowers data teams to build, test, and deploy advanced AI models directly where the data lives, leveraging Exasol’s high-speed MPP architecture, seamless Python integration, and the ability for efficient unstructured-to-structured data conversion. With new GPU acceleration for user-defined functions (UDFs), teams can unlock even faster in-database machine learning and generative AI, scaling innovation without moving data.
  • Performance at Scale: Enhanced performance engineering enables faster queries, higher user concurrency, and real-time insights-helping customers reduce infrastructure costs and make smarter decisions, faster.
  • Flexible Deployment: Exasol 8 is designed for on-premises, hybrid, and sovereign cloud environments, giving organizations full control over their data and infrastructure.

Turbocharging the Lakehouse

At the Xperience Berlin 2025, Exasol also introduced the Lakehouse Turbo Charger, a new solution that brings in-memory speed, open data federation, and in-database compute intelligence to the lakehouse paradigm. Available now in Early Access, it enables organizations to build, train, and serve AI models closer to their data, delivering agility and compliance without compromise.
