The Challenge

With steady data growth and increasing demands for centralized reporting, MEDION’s previous database solution was reaching its limits. The limiting licensing model and existing hardware required future-oriented optimization to ensure agility and performance.

The Solution

MEDION opted for an expansion of the infrastructure and transition to a new licensing model for the Exasol Data Warehouse. Switching to RAM-based licensing and utilizing in-memory technology resulted in a significant performance boost. A “3+1” hardware setup ensures maximum reliability.

Benefits for MEDION

Accelerated Queries

The switch to RAM-based licensing and use of in-memory technology enabled complete data processing in working memory, leading to significant performance improvements and faster data queries.

High System Stability

Through the “3+1” hardware concept with three main nodes and one backup node in case of failover, MEDION achieves significantly higher reliability and dependability of the Data Warehouse.

Foundation for Innovation

As a Single Point of Truth, the Exasol Data Warehouse is developing into the central data source in the company. It creates the basis for deeper data analysis, the use of AI-supported tools, and the integration of OpenAI solutions to unlock new analysis possibilities.

By utilising the Exasol Data Warehouse with in-memory technology, we were able to increase query performance by an impressive 70% and save several hours of data processing overnight. As we prepare for the future of AI and its growing importance to business success, we are convinced that Exasol’s powerful data analytics foundation will be critical to increasing our speed of innovation and securing our competitive advantage in this AI-driven landscape
