Why the Exasol Semantic Layer?
The Exasol Semantic Layer (ESL), developed by our certified partner eviit, bridges the gap between raw data and business insights. By centralizing business logic and definitions, it ensures consistency, accuracy, and trust across all analytics tools and teams.
Ensure consistency
Standardize KPIs, metrics, and definitions across your organization.
Accelerate analytics

Built for Technical Depth and Scalability
The Semantic Layer extends Exasol beyond SQL, giving data engineers, scientists, and architects the flexibility to embed custom logic, AI/ML models, and advanced workflows directly into Exasol; all at in-memory speed.
The Exasol Semantic Layer in Action
Otto, one of Germany’s largest e-commerce companies, needed consistent and accessible analytics across multiple BI tools. Their existing setup spread business logic across ETL pipelines, database views, and each BI tool—making migrations (to Tableau, Power BI, etc.) time-consuming and error-prone.
To solve this, our partner eviit worked with Otto implemented the Exasol Semantic Layer, built on Exasol’s Virtual Schema technology. The layer centralizes business logic into vvirtual tables and metadata definitions. This means: every BI tool queries the same definitions, without duplicating code or recreating logic with each migration or tool.

Powered by Partnership
The Exasol Semantic Layer is built by eviit, a trusted Exasol partner specializing in enterprise analytics solutions. Together, we ensure that your data infrastructure is not just high-performance, but also flexible, extensible, and future-ready.
