      How to connect Cognos with your EXASolution database:

      1. Install JDBC

      The following few steps will explain how to download and use the necessary JDBC driver:

      • Download the JDBC Driver from the official Exasol website
      • Run the downloaded file "Exasolution_JDBC-x.y.z.msi" and install it.
      • Copy the JDBC Driver "exajdbc.jar" (...\EXASOL\EXASolution-"version"\JDBC) into the Cognos path (...\c10_location\webapps\p2pd\WEB-INF\lib), cf. Cognos Manual
      • Restart the Cognos Service.

      2. Connect Cognos with your EXASolution database

      The following steps will explain how to connect Cognos with your EXASolution Database with the correct properties:

      • Click on "Launch" and select "IBM Cognos Administration":
      • Choose "Configuration" in the task bar and click on the icon to create a new Data Source:
      • Specify a name for your Data Source and press on "Next>"
      • Choose the type by clicking on the dropdown-icon and select JDBC. Press "Next>" afterwards.
      • In the following window use those properties:
        • Type : Exasolution
        • JDBC-URL: "jdbc:exa:<host-range>:<port>"
        • (p.r.n. Connection Properties: "SCHEMA=xxx")
        • Driver Class: com.exasol.jdbc.EXADriver
        • Enter the User ID and password from your database:

      Now you can test your connection by clicking the blue "Test the connection..." text.

      • Press again on "test" to see, if your connection was successful:

        If your connection worked, you will see the status "Succeeded" in your window:
