Exasol can be run on a physical cluster, or it can be run in a virtual environment. This section provides you with the hardware requirements and hardware certification for running EXASOL in a physical environment.
Exasol clusters are composed of one or more database nodes, and at least one management node (also called 'license server'). Database nodes (also called 'data nodes') are the powerhouse of a cluster and operate the Exasol database instances and the EXAStorage volumes.
