Big data made easily accessible
Nuremberg, 14 June 2012 – A new collaboration between EXASOL and TARGIT, a leading software company that offers innovative business intelligence solutions, makes Big Data accessible and clear.
TARGIT will leverage EXASOL’s capabilities of in-database analytics of huge databases, and then add its business intelligence tool, TARGIT BI Suite, which is known for its ease-of-use and ability to provide human-computer synergy. By joining forces with EXASOL, TARGIT will reach a customer base that is making decisions on huge data sets.
TARGIT CTO, Dr. Morten Middelfart, is happy with the collaboration. “Data that is outside the scope of traditional systems has been a focus for TARGIT since our inception. Even back in 1997, we were pioneering parallel systems on commodity hardware. Today, our business relationship with EXASOL may look a bit different than TARGIT from 1997, but our commitment to Big data has only become stronger“, says the CTO.
Mr. Steffen Weissbarth, CEO of EXASOL, supports Dr. Morten Middelfart’s statement. “Powered by a large number of applications, the increasing data volume in companies will, in the future, play a role of utmost importance,” says the EXASOL CEO and continues, “the partnership with TARGIT will create more efficiency, precision and flexibility for our mutual customers along their entire value chain.”
Big data is flowing faster than ever
The term Big data is used to describe data that exists in such large amounts that it becomes difficult to handle in the traditional approach of data warehousing or any other type of database. Typically, Big data has to do with big servers running in parallel, not just one machine running the monumental amount of data alone. The velocity attribute of Big data, known as Fast data, is data that requires your attention right away when something changes or emerges. TARGIT’s ability to run real-time analytics is a prerequisite prior to even dealing with Fast data. “What really makes TARGIT extremely strong with regards to Fast data is that we have all these abilities for the individual users to set up agents – meaning that Fast data will not only be hitting the system fast, but it will also notify the user fast. The system will monitor where problems are emerging and can also identify beneficial trends,” explains Dr. Morten Middelfart.
EXASOL’s Big data support will be available in the upcoming major update, SR2 for TARGIT BI Suite, which will be released to the market June 2012.
EXASOL develops and markets the relational high-performance database, EXASolution, based on in-memory technology, which was designed specifically for data warehouse applications and business intelligence solutions – allowing very large volumes of data to be analyzed and evaluated in a short timeframe.
