Facing intense price pressure, technological advances, and ever-shorter development and product lifecycles, Semikron needed to be able to archive quality data, trace material movement and delivery information throughout the production chain, and run multi-layered ad hoc analyses.
Exasol connects to five international Semikron locations and 60 measurement systems. Raw data from production systems is compiled, standardised, zipped, and made available for the central server in Germany, where it’s passed to the Exasol database and available at all times for queries and reports. The system at Semikron comprises 3+1 stand-alone computers (nodes), which are linked in a cluster and automatically distributed, allowing for optimal use of all hardware resources.
