Exasol wins at the 2017 Computing Big Data and IOT awards

“Guess who won the award in the “outstanding structured database” category on 2017 Computing Loading...Big Data?”

Last week we were honored and delighted that Exasol won at the 2017 Computing Big Data and IOT awards held in London, beating off stiff competition to take the award in the “outstanding structured database” category. It’s a great testament not only to the hardworking and dedicated staff at Exasol who are proud to develop the world’s fastest Loading...in-memory analytic database engine, but also to all of our customers and the Exasol user community who are transforming their businesses by putting data very much center-stage and at the heart of everything they do. In fact, organizations around the world are running their businesses using Exasol; they’re ingesting, processing, analyzing and deriving value from large data sets at unprecedented speeds that in turn drives their success. It’s truly game-changing.

Indeed, our customers are great advocates of the database and at our annual Xperience event, users and partners come together to network, learn and hear about what’s next for data analytics, as well as celebrate a shared love for fast analytics. One example customer is King Digital Entertainment, makers of Candy Crush Saga, which we highlighted in the awards entry. The company analyzes data generated from over 1.5 billion game plays per day and uses Exasol to improve player satisfaction and examine game-play statistics. King has taken a considered approach to their data analytics requirements by using the “right tool for the right job”; the company uses a combination of Loading...Hadoop and Exasol for analytics so users can get answers to their business queries in a fraction of the time it took previously.

The awards evening itself was a lot of fun; the Exasol team in the UK came together to relax and enjoy themselves while waiting in anticipation to see whether Exasol had been awarded the prize. The fruits of our labor paid off and Exasol CEO and chairman, Aaron Auld, and UK managing director, Sebastian Darrington, went up to the stage to receive the award. We were also delighted to support the charity partner of the evening, Place2Be; they’re doing great work helping children in schools with often complex social issues.

It’s incredibly rewarding to see how companies are changing the way they do business with Exasol, and even more so, when this is recognized by the Computing Big Data and IOT awards judging committee. We’re proud to add the Computing Big Data and IOT award to the collection!
