EXASOL Heads to Dell World, Highlights Milestone and Continues to Meet and Exceed Customers’ Expectations

Recent customer and third-party benchmark success underscores importance of EXASOL’s work with Dell OEM.

Dell World, Austin, TX, November 4, 2014 – EXASOL AG, the provider of EXASOL, the world’s most powerful engine for analytics and data warehousing according to the recent TPC-H benchmark, today announced that more than 1,000 Dell PowerEdge servers have been sold with EXASOL. The EXASOL Appliance – EXASOL software combined with Dell PowerEdge servers, services and support – has lowered the cost of data warehousing by up to 90 percent and provided its customers with a full suite of support, services and capabilities.

The EXASOL Appliance is based on the Dell OEM Solutions model. This model is one of the only tier-one manufacturers that offers a single source for comprehensive, end-to-end hardware integration, extended life products, solid change management and services and support worldwide. With this model, EXASOL is able to integrate Dell server technology with its software and leverage Dells’ global supply-chain management expertise from concept to execution, including a robust services portfolio. With these customized services, EXASOL can achieve economies of scale and reduce or eliminate the complexity and overhead costs of bringing a product to market. This way, EXASOL can focus more resources and time on developing its unique IP and growing its business and less on execution, increasing its competitive advantage, agility and speed to profit.

Cutting Costs with EXASOL Appliance

EXASOL Appliance’s offer customers the ability to significantly cut their total cost of ownership (TCO). An EXASOL customer in the machinery engineering field was planning a resource inventory for a specific product line that required data to be pulled from the productive environment into a separate analytical database. A data warehouse appliance solution alone can cost several millions of dollars. However, with EXASOL software built on top of Dell PowerEdge servers and with the added benefits of service and support, they were provided with a full-fledged solution at a 90 percent lower TCO.

Other Benefits from the EXASOL Appliance

EXASOL Appliances can be tailored to the customers’ specific requirements. Thus, customers get a high-value solution at an optimal price/performance ratio. Additionally, the EXASOL Appliance means that customers no longer have to build their own systems from scratch, ultimately saving them time and money. For example, customer Blue Yonder uses the power and speed of an EXASOL Appliance to enable its clients to improve forecasting accuracy between 30 and 60 percent. Another customer, Webtrekk, uses the EXASOL Appliance to analyze huge amounts of raw data and segment customers in real time without having to spend valuable time pre-calculating and aggregating the data. With the EXASOL Appliance these customers are able to derive real value from their data, make better day-to-day decisions and focus on their core business.

Working to be the Fastest Database in the World

Recently, EXASOL participated in the Transaction Processing Performance Council’s Industry standard Loading...TPC-H benchmark from 100 Gigabytes to 100 Terabytes data sizes. EXASOL broke all records again and is the only database company to benchmark an Loading...in-memory system at 100TB, delivering a 140 times performance increase over the nearest competitor. These results were achieved with EXASOL 5.0 running on a Dell PowerEdge R720xd cluster. The results further cement EXASOL’s six years of performance leadership since the first publication of TPC-H benchmarks in 2008, and show clearly how analytical Loading...in-memory databases can scale. The 100TB results are not only exemplified as part of the TPC-H benchmark, but are in play in the real world with customers like King Digital Entertainment, makers of the hit games Candy Crush Saga and Farm Heroes Saga, who use EXASOL to analyze enormous amounts of data in real time.

“Our work with Dell is very important for us,” said Aaron Auld, CEO, EXASOL. “With their first-class server technology and their quality support and service offerings, we’re able to guarantee customers real value from the combined solution. Our customers are our number one priority and working with Dell helps us to put them first.”
