EXASOL guarantees the long-term operation of the database and is pleased to handle key operational activities for you:

Installation

EXASOL typically handles installation of the software.

During the installation, we set up an internal and an external cluster network, we then install the servers (cluster nodes). After the installation, database instances are set up and started. Once we are satisfied that users can access the databases, the access information is handed over to you.

For maintenance and administration, we need a site-to-site VPN connection to access the cluster. This will usually be tested during the installation phase.

System administration and monitoring

We provide system administration and monitoring services for about half of our customers.

The service includes:

  • Troubleshooting und software updates
  • Setup of nodes and databases
  • Integration of new or repaired servers into the cluster (including cluster enlargements)
  • Cluster internal backup and restore, support in setting up external backup if required
  • Monthly load reports
    (The reports can be accessed via the customer portal. This service requires unrestricted access to the database.)
  • Passive system monitoring with a 2-tier escalation strategy

We don't necessarily need SYS access to the database for this service package.

Important: You can also use our administration services on a time and material basis. In this case, our employees are also available outside of office hours.

Database administration

As EXASolution is a tuning-free DBMS, the main task of an EXASolution DBA is to set up users in the database and control access to database objects. Additionally, we analyse auditing information if necessary. Another key task is the analysis of fault reports and performance problems.
The DBA service requires privileged access to the database.

Housing

EXASOL AG offers you data warehouse as a service on request. This is especially interesting for:

  • Smaller companies that want to outsource their infrastructure
  • Companies that want to have a single point of contact for the entire system (software, hardware, …) 
  • Short-term projects requiring large computing capacity.

In this package, we provide you with data centre space, assemble your hardware and configure the network access for you. If required, the hardware resources are also included.
