Product showcase – EXASOL in my pocket

EXASOL recently showcased the fastest ever pocketable database using a four-inch square Intel NUC (Next Unit of Computing) device that is capable of querying hundreds of millions of rows in real-time.

Atheon Analytics, the specialist retail analytics consultancy working with some of the UK’s largest retailers and suppliers, has developed the EXASOL-in-my-pocket device to power its proof-of-concept data visualisations.

By bringing their own server in such a compact package, they are able to run a far more efficient and accurate proof-of-concept (PoC) for customers without relying on the customer’s internet connection or external data centres. More data can be brought to their visualisations and demonstrated at the client site allowing them to create better PoCs. Additionally, by running the full EXASOL database it takes no further effort to scale up to a multi-node EXASOL cluster.

Tableau Cloud

Users of EXASOL have been used to connecting their Loading...in-memory database instance to Tableau’s front-end data visualisation technology for some time in order to bring their data to life. Now users can also avail themselves of the power of EXASOL with Tableau Online, Tableau’s hosted version of Tableau Server.

Tableau Online is Tableau’s SaaS-based Loading...cloud analytics offering that allows users to publish and share insights in the cloud without the need to spend time and resources on hardware and maintaining software releases. Live connections can be maintained with a number of data sources, including EXASOL’s fast in-memory analytic database from version 4.2 onwards. As a result, users can now add an extra layer of in-memory performance to their SaaS-based analytics.
