EXASOL appoints new Chief Marketing Officer to further cement its position as the in-memory analytic database of choice for business

London, January 15, 2015 – While Loading...big data was the buzzword of 2013, it wasn’t until 2014 that organisations began to understand that data of any size had value for the business. As we move into 2015, the discussion will evolve into more sophisticated discussion and scrutiny of the business-led reasons for companies to embrace their data and turn it into decision-making fuel. EXASOL, the provider of an Loading...in-memory analytic database that helps businesses translate their data into actionable insights, is readying itself to take the lead on the data analytics discussion by appointing seasoned marketer, Sean Jackson, as chief marketing officer.

EXASOL’s technology holds the TPC-H record for being the fastest, most scalable in-memory Loading...MPP analytic database engine. It may be lesser known in the world of MPP databases, but with its superior technology it beats all its competitors hands-down in price and performance. Sean – with his wealth of experience in the B2B technology marketing industry, and more specifically data analytics – has joined the team to position EXASOL at the heart of data analytics, explain the ‘so what?’ factor, illustrate the value and educate on its benefits.

Sean Jackson says: “EXASOL is a lesser known entity when compared to other database vendors, but its technology and customer experience is a lot more attractive. EXASOL has a strong base of satisfied customers, 2014 saw revenues grow 60% year-on-year and the technology has pedigree. But, most importantly the team is professional and passionate about everything they do. 2015 is the year for data analytics and companies will really start to understand the value of EXASOL and its ability to help organisations do more with their data than ever before. There’s a lot of noise we need to cut through. It’s my goal to lead with action and help bring clarity to the deluge of information out there about data and analytics.”

Sean’s experience in the field puts him in a strong position to help EXASOL’s growth. He has a wealth of experience in the data analytics, data warehousing and business intelligence space. Sean previously held the position of Marketing Director, EMEA at Actian Corporation. Before this he spent five years as the Marketing Director of Kognitio, so he knows a thing or two about the industry.

Sean continues: “The thing that excites me the most about the possibilities in marketing EXASOL and its EXASolution database offering is the sheer business opportunity out there for all companies that want to turn their data into value. Many say it is the new oil, but I disagree; it’s what you do with the data that makes the difference – you need to analyse it and turn it into a series of actions before it becomes the fuel of business. I am incredibly excited to be leading the marketing efforts at EXASOL, helping businesses capitalise on information in the data age.”

Aaron Auld, CEO, EXASOL, said: “Sean is a respected marketing strategist within the global data industry and we are delighted to have him on board to help us take full advantage of increasing global demand for fast, actionable insights from data. Our technology is being used in fascinating ways, helping our customers innovate, introduce new revenue streams or reduce costs. Sean will play an instrumental role in cementing our position at the forefront of data analytics and warehousing as businesses evolve their strategies into more empirical, predictive models.”

Sean is fluent in English, French and German and has built up an extensive network of media, analyst and industry contacts over the years across North America and Europe. In his new role, Sean will be in charge of the entire marketing strategy at EXASOL.
