EXASolution is a relational DBMS that was developed specifically for use in the business intelligence process.
By focusing on analytics the EXASolution architecture can meet the special requirements placed on data warehouses more effectively than universal brands. Alongside the gain in pure performance, maintenance costs are lower because the complicated optimization steps typically done by administrators are not necessary.

The EXASolution system is deployed on a high performance cluster. Based on highly specialized distributed algorithms and over 20 years of experience gained through research, the DBMS delivers priviously unseen performance and scalability.
EXASolution distributes stored data uniformly across all nodes in the cluster (shared nothing). Persistant data is stored on local hard disks, resulting in very high cluster-wide throughput for read and write operations.
As a result of redundant data storage, availability can even be ensured in the event of failure of individual cluster nodes. Thanks to this storage method and in-memory data processing, expensive storage systems such as SAN are no longer required.
A further advantage is the possibility to simply enlarge the cluster by several servers if requirements increase, without the necessity of a complete hardware upgrade.
All algorithms of EXASolution are optimized to take advantage of fast main memory access times.
Due to innovative compression algorithms and the implementation of cluster technology, EXASolution can keep most data in main memory, even if the data volume is very high.
Thanks to standard interfaces (ANSI SQL 2008, DB driver, BI tools), integrating EXASolution into an existing IT infrastructure is easy. The self-learning system automatically adapts to the users' habits and, together with the use of well-known business intelligence applications (e.g. Business Objects, Cognos, Microsoft, SAS) this increases acceptance by specialist departments.
